I keep returning to salt marshes as a subject for my embroideries. I work from photographs that I take on site, and so have the opportunity to spend time in the marshes, a serene and fulfilling environment. I find that I am drawn to the water as well as to the grasses; several of the 2002-3 embroideries seem to be as much about water as about the marsh. The 2006 pieces are about the pattern of light and shadow on the grass. And the marshes done in 2008 explore the seasons in the salt marshes. In 2010 I began using a more horizontal format for the embroideries. It is always interesting to me to note where my visual interests are leading me.
